So Amy and I were about to go for a walk with our dog, Pawz and we had an idea.  People throw bottles on the ground all the time here, and in Michigan we get $0.10 per bottle to return them.  We found 4 bottles and 5 pennies on our hour walk…..which if you are adding it up at home…. is 45 cents!

It feels good to get paid to walk.

Just wanted to let everyone in buddyslim land know that I just bought an upper and lower body cycle for $25. Its made by Golds Gym so its a quality product.  This thing is awesome I put it under my computer…..soooo you guessed it…. I am peddling while I am typing.  This is fun and it doesn’t even feel like Im exercising….but once I get off here….I WILL FEEL IT.  Trust me, last night i almost fell over.

Morning Laughs

 Q: Doctor, I’ve heard that cardiovascular  exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A:
Your heart is only good for so many  beats, and that’s it… don’t waste them on  exercise. Everything wears out eventually.  Speeding up your heart will not make you live  longer; that’s like saying you can extend  the life of  your car by  driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a  nap.


Q:
Should I cut down on meat and eat more  fruits and vegetables ?
A: You  must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a  cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these?  Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an  efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to  your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is  also a good source of field grass (green leafy  vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of  your recommended daily allowance of vegetable  products.

Should I reduce my alcohol  intake?
A: No,  not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is  distilled wine, that means they take the water  out of the fruity bit so you get even more of  the goodness that way. Beer is also  made out of grain. Bottoms up!

How  can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have  fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two  bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

What are some of the  advantages of participating in a regular  exercise program?
A: Can’t think of a single one, sorry. My  philosophy is: No Pain…Good!

Aren’t fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU’RE  NOT LISTENING!!! …. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they’re permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for  you?


Q: Will sit-ups help prevent  me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a  muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is  chocolate bad for me?
A: Are  you crazy? HELLO Cocoa  beans! Another vegetable!!! It’s the best  feel-good food around!

Q: Is  swimming good for your figure?
A:
If  swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to  me.

Q: Is getting in-shape  important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! ‘Round’ is a shape! 

What is it about the season change?

I swear every time the seasons change I do not feel like doing this anymore.  I want to throw away everything I learned the last 7 months and eat whatever.  Its starting to get cold outside and maybe I am part bear?

Maybe my body wants to build up weight so I can hibernate for the winter, I dont know.

The point of this whole blog-a-roo is that I am tired of making excuses for why I am not eating right and not exercising.  They gave free candy at work last week and usually I wouldnt take it, but last time I did. Why? I dont know, but I did it. Guilty as charged…..Isnt that a Dave Mathews Band song?

Yes I looked on my Zune and it is. Ok….moving on.

So this week I am getting back on. Might be slow, but Im doing this.  Im not going to throw away 7 months of hard work for some fun size candy bars and candy corn.

I’M LOSING IT!!!!

Hi im Jeffrey, you might remember me from past buddy slim blogs such as ” The awesome power of green tea” and ” The downfall of weight loss”.  Today I’m here to talk to you all about a new issue that many of you may be dealing with right now. LOSING IT. Yes you read it Losing it. Todays “Losing It” topic is rings.  Specifically WEDDING RINGS.  As in “Hey ive lost a good amount of weight so far…oops my ring is falling off my hand.” Yep that is right, i almost lost my ring twice this week. Now, for your consideration…i give you exhibit A.

A.  A United States Quarter. Go ahead take one out of your pocket.  I can pass one of these through my wedding ring.  Size 15!

Now before i really “LOSE IT” I have to get it resized. I am now a size 12 3/4 !! By the way my hand feels really REALLY weird, I have not had my ring off for more than 20 minutes at a time in over 4 years….this is going to be a long week.

Downfall of weight loss

Ok so when i started this weight loss journey i was above 300 lbs ( not sure where exactly I was, my scale wouldnt read past 300, but if i were to guess i would say around 310+ ) and i was working my way into a size 44 jeans and buying XXXL shirts. Now I am down to 248 and I’m feeling good.  But it has recently come to my attention that now I’m starting to look sloppy in the way I dress. Im still wearing my size 44 or 42 pants and they are starting to look like “Hammer” pants

I guess there are worse things people could be saying about me. But I think im going to go to Goodwill and pick up a few pairs of size 36, which is what i should be wearing. :D

ARRRRRRRR Lets all make the effort to make those nasty pounds walk the plank and take a plunge into Davy Jones Locker.  Shiver me timbers, just think of what we could do with a little exercise today. Steer clear and dont try to pillage the fridge for some unhealthy tasty booty.

Fall

Well it is starting to feel like fall here in Michigan. The apples on the trees are tasty and the leaves are starting to turn color and well….fall.   This is my favorite season of the year. The Michigan winters are cold and the snow is nasty (dont get me wrong i love a white christmas, but it loses its effect when the white snow turns exhaust fume black). The spring is my second favorite but we still get blasted with snow, sandwiched between a couple days of 50 and 60 degree days.  I dont really have a problem with summer, i like the lakes and when i can go i like the amusement parks. But no……fall is it for me.

Horror movies, Halloween, Fresh Apples and Football!!

Plus since this is a fitness site, the fall season also helps in this category too. Walks in the early morning or after sunset provide the perfect setting. Its not humid ! Throwing on a hooded sweatshirt and walking puts me in the right frame of mind.

…..Of course now that i wrote this….being in Michigan…….it will bypass fall and snow 6 inches tonight

Here we go again. Another day another blog, this might be getting addicting. Is there a 12 step program for bloggers on buddyslim?

Yesterday i avoided temptation again, even though i wanted some chips and salsa very VERY badly.  I kept hearing “its ok, just one plate. No one will know” but if i went through with it, then there would be no story about how i finally fought the impulse. So there it is…..I fought the impulse, and i won.

Speaking of winning. Yesterday i wrote that i had softball last night, and wow did we ever play the game of the season in game one. We were playing the number two team in the league ( a team we never, NEVER win against). Down one run in the seventh, and final, inning with a man on first base i come up to the plate and hit a ball into right field, advancing the runner to second base. Then the next batter walks, and in our league if a team walks a male to get to a female, the female gets to walk automatically. So one run scores off that walk and im on third, the winning run. Next batter hits it into left field, i score and we win the game. CELEBRATION!!  ….the second game we got shutout 10-0, i guess we made them angry.

Today i think i will change up my workout. I keep seeing on here that people are doing stairs workouts and since my apartment building has 3 floors maybe ill put on the ol’ mp3 player and tackle some stairs.
